Legend3D raises million to fund more 3-D conversions

Legend3D, which specializes in transforming movies to three-D, revealed Monday it had elevated $19 million from private traders to invest in much more conversions.

The decade-old San Diego company, that also refashions shots of movies initially shot in 3-D, has done numerous high-profile releases, including Martin Scorsese's current release "Hugo," in addition to "Transformers: Dark from the Moon," "Pirates from the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," and "Green Lantern."

The firm, which utilizes 250 people, stated the $19 million will assist in paying for research and development to enhance the standard of their proprietary 2-D to three-D conversion process and form more close ties with filmmakers and galleries.

Major galleries are investing $ten million or even more to transform new and classic Hollywood movies for example "Titantic" for 3-D viewing.

"3-D storytelling is primed to brush audiences worldwide, which makes it progressively critical that the technology behind the curtain offers today's content designers something set without limits,'' stated David Patterson, chairman and leader of Northwater Capital Management Corporation., which brought several traders in raising the $19 million.

  • Thumbs up if you've already watched the movie but still watch the trailer!

  • Despite thet fact that this has a different feel than the other three, just hearing the theme (He's A Pirate) and the other music makes me smile... I'm glad to be a part of the generation where pirates are cool :)

  • so much focus on Jack compared to the original pirates of the caribbean movie ..

  • Crappiest movie in the series. Should have kept Gore Verbinski as the director.

  • this is not good enough, it shouldnt be anymore POTC movies, i want it to remain as a child-memory, not take all these new borned kids into this.. aaahhhh

  • Great to see Johnny back as Jack the story worked in lots of areas and felt flat in others. Ian Mcshane was great as Blackbeard.
