Alec Baldwin is one of my heroes in life! I personally, use this same approach with my sales staff every month at our meetings. Have been doing so for the last 5 years. The result? An increase in sales growth of 20%, 25%, 50% 70% and 95% respectively. It's amazing that the greatest scene of all time can translate into such a positive outcome when properly used in a business environment.

You're description of this video is really horrible. David Mamet wrote this monologue (( as well as the entire play and eventually the screenplay)) in order to show how debasing, dark and treacherous the sales world is. Alec Baldwin does this speech masterfully but to call this the modern basis of good sales technique really and truly paints the entire profession as a terrible way to make a living. Which, upon reflection of your description, it is. ;)
