Virtually everybody by having an e-mail account knows the kind of scam in which you aren't connections has something valuable to provide, but is going through some type of trouble and it is prepared to provide compensation for needed assistance. Is someone attempting to swindle individuals who'd do practically anything to have an all expense compensated trip to meet their most favorite talk show host?
On Tuesday, Telepictures Prods, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. along with a producer from the Ellen DeGeneres Show filed a suit against an anonymous individual that allegedly continues to be appearing as Ellen's manager.
Based on the complaint, the defendant(s) produced fake email options along with a profile on Facebook within the title of Eric Gold, DeGeneres' manager. After passing themself off being an worker of her show, the fake Eric Gold is stated to possess solicited and collected private information from fans. How? Fans were advised that they been selected to look around the program.
We've collected more information around the scam. An average message started:
"You happen to be selected from people from the Ellen DeGenere's Facebook Page to become on her behalf talk show due to your discuss the 'Halloween edition'. If you are looking at attending, this offer is a brand expense compensated trip from Ellen in appreciation to be keen on Ellen.You're needed to retort as quickly as possible because we've short time."
The content then promises the recipient will get a $3,000 check to pay for travel expenses. To get the check, the readers need to give their full title, address, mobile phone number and e-mail address.
Later on, if your fan responds, trouble arises. Individuals who respond are told that she or he may be the ninth person to express yes but that only eight individuals will be selected. But "Eric Gold" likes the fan, so he's prepared to make the best as long as some username and passwords is supplied:
"You need to rapidly hurry to bank cash the funds and mind towards the western union store to wire your ticket and hotel reservation funds. So you're hereby being advised to transmit the funds towards the below Agent's title."
The complaint doesn't detail the number of everyone was swept up within this trap, but we found one person who seems to possess been trapped, writing for help:
"Hi Ellen I'm so worried which i may well be a victim of the scam and that i'm scared! Does an Eric Gold meet your needs? With email ericgold2ellen@gmail.com? I got an answer only on my small facebook email from what states Ellen however it doesn't have us as buddies it's facebook user and it is almost per week since i was selected arrive at setup a meeting and also have an exciting expense compensated visit to LA & be in your show also it stated something about being acquired because of your company but no 3,000$ check originates to the house I haven't even been told by Eric gold next!"

Telepictures is seeking a lasting injunction to enjoin the mystery perpetrator by using its marks and representing they're acting in affiliation using the show. The organization can also be seeking damages for malicious, oppressive, and fraudulent actions.
Clearly, its not all individual that purports with an inside path to Celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres is real. For individuals who "like" top stars and television shows, watch out for fishy messages inside your Facebook message box.
